Ormeau is blooming! Here’s what’s happening…

Exciting times ahead! A host of innovative projects are in place to enhance the already buzzing Ormeau Road in Belfast.

The former Ballynafeigh police station is to be turned into apartments under ambitious proposals set to go before planners.

The plans would see two new buildings comprising around 60 apartments in total along with retail space, landscaped courtyards and underground parking.

Further on up the road,  the owner of the award-winning Galgorm Resort & Spa has said it hopes to have development proposals for a new £4 million hotel, bar and restaurant complex at the site of the old Holy Rosary Church approved before the end of the year.

“Once planning is granted we estimate a two year turnaround on the project, developing 22 bedrooms with bar and restaurant with an investment in the region of £4 million” Galgorm general manager Colin Johnston told The Irish News.

The proposed works includes the demolition of side and rear extensions at the site, including those at the former parochial house, but do not alter the facade of the listed church building. The redevelopment would add 484 sq m of floor space.
